About Amadeus
What is Amadeus about?
Amadeus is Peter Shaffer's play about the rivalry between the court composer Antonio Salieri and the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It opens in Vienna in 1820, when a respected composer makes a shocking confession, and looks back on how talent came face to face with genius. Fuelled by some of the greatest music ever written, it is a story of ambition, faith and the unbearable cost of greatness, where devotion turns to betrayal and one man dares to challenge God.

Michael Sheen plays Salieri and Callum Scott Howells plays Mozart in this production of Amadeus. Sheen's recent stage work includes Nye at the National Theatre, and Howells is known for It's A Sin and Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. It is the first time two Welsh actors have taken on these two roles.
