About Billy Elliot The Musical

Adapted from the 2000 film, the musical follows young Billy as he stumbles into a ballet class and finds a passion that clashes with his working-class community. Themes of family, class and self-discovery sit beside high-energy dance numbers and ballads such as Electricity. The show has won four Olivier Awards and ten Tony Awards. This revival reunites key creatives including choreographer Peter Darling’s legacy staging language and Stephen Daldry’s direction, at the Adelphi Theatre on the Strand.

Why see Billy Elliot in London in 2027

Limited runs sell in layers, so booking early helps if you want specific seats for a milestone title. Pair the night with other West End favourites such as The Lion King or Hamilton if you are building a multi-show trip. For venue orientation, use the Adelphi theatre page before you travel.

If you are bringing teenagers, the coming-of-age story lands clearly, but preview the content notes on conflict and effects if anyone is sensitive to strobe or smoke. If you loved the film, expect stage set pieces that expand the dance language beyond the screen version while keeping the Durham strike setting at the centre of the plot.
