About Christmas Carol Goes Wrong

Christmas Carol Goes Wrong tickets in London

Christmas Carol Goes Wrong returns to Wyndham's Theatre on Charing Cross Road for a limited six-week West End season, from 18 December 2026 to 23 January 2027. The Cornley Amateur Drama Society take on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and almost everything goes wrong: the set arrives late, actors go missing and a feud breaks out over who gets to play Scrooge. This is the festive show from MISCHIEF, the company behind The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong, and it comes back after a sold-out London season last year.

Dave Hearn, part of the original cast of The Play That Goes Wrong and the BBC's The Goes Wrong Show, plays Max. MISCHIEF founders Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer join the cast as their original Cornley characters, Robert and Dennis, for two weeks from 14 to 23 January 2027. Lewis and Sayer wrote the show with Henry Shields. It started life as a BBC television special in 2017 before it was reworked for the stage.

Christmas Carol Goes Wrong: what to expect, running time and age guidance

The show runs for about 2 hours 20 minutes, including an interval. The chaos is carefully rehearsed. Scenery falls apart and cues are missed, but the cast stay in character and keep pushing through Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. Because Dickens' story still has to be told, the evening holds together as a play rather than a string of sketches. You don't need to have seen any other Goes Wrong show to enjoy it. If you have, you'll recognise the Cornley regulars and their rivalries.

The recommended age is 8 and over. The production contains moderately bad language, some sexual references and innuendo, and violence played for comedy. There is a moment of audience interaction in the second act. If you would rather see a traditional version of the story this season, look at A Christmas Carol at The Old Vic. Fans of the company can also book The Play That Goes Wrong, which is still running in the West End.
