Julius Caesar is Shakespeare's epic political thriller, staged in the intimate, candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare's Globe from 6 November 2026 to 14 February 2027. What makes this production distinctive?

Director Joe Hill-Gibbins, who previously staged Ghosts in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, returns to direct this brutal and timely tale of friendship, betrayal and political violence. The staging invites you to take your place as a citizen of Rome: when they look you in the eye, where will your allegiances lie? Performed by candlelight, the Playhouse's Jacobean style interior makes the conspiracies feel unnervingly close.
