About Pinocchio
What is Pinocchio at Shakespeare's Globe about?
Pinocchio is the festive musical at Shakespeare's Globe, returning for winter 2026 after its acclaimed premiere season. Dreaming of a life beyond his traditional town, restless maverick Geppetto makes a magical wooden puppet called Pinocchio, and together they set out to find family and discover the wonder of being human. Expect live music throughout, playful puppetry and plenty of boisterous humour on the Globe Theatre stage.
Who created this production of Pinocchio?
The musical is written by Charlie Josephine, whose play I, Joan premiered at Shakespeare's Globe, with music by Jim Fortune, and it is directed by the Globe's Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes. Critics have embraced it warmly, with WhatsOnStage calling it a beautiful new musical and four star reviews from The Telegraph, The Guardian and the Independent.
When is Pinocchio playing?
Pinocchio runs at Shakespeare's Globe on Bankside from 28 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, with matinee and evening performances across the week. It makes a natural centrepiece for a festive day out on the South Bank.

Yes. Pinocchio is recommended for everybody aged 5 and up, and it is one of London's best loved family shows of the season. Children under 3 do not require a ticket.
