Windsor Castle tickets: what your entry includes

Getting to Windsor from London

Windsor sits west of London, and the castle is a short walk from the town centre and its railway stations. If you book an option with transfers, the coach version departs from the Greenline coach terminal on Bulleid Way near Victoria, and the exact departure point is confirmed after booking. The train version leaves from Paddington Station with an open return, so you can come back on any train that suits you. You change at Slough, and a full information pack with your train and castle tickets is emailed 10 days before you travel.

Plan your visit to Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. St George's Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays and during services, and the State Apartments can occasionally close at short notice for royal events. Most visitors spend around two to three hours inside. Arrive early to allow time for security checks, show your mobile voucher with a valid photo ID at the entrance, and collect your multimedia guide before you start.

Photography is not allowed inside the castle, although you can take photos in the precincts. Large backpacks and pushchairs are not permitted in the State Apartments, food and drink are not allowed in the exhibition areas, and pets cannot join, although guide dogs are welcome. The castle is partially accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
