What can you see on the Oxford bus route?

The route links Oxford's best known sights in one easy loop. You pass the grand Sheldonian Theatre, ride alongside the historic grounds of famous university colleges, and can hop off in the centre for shops and cafés, including the Westgate Shopping Centre. Oxford's centre is compact but busy, and the bus saves you a lot of walking between the colleges, the river and the shops. With buses about every 15 minutes, you rarely wait long, so it is easy to stop for a college visit or lunch and then carry on.

What does the walking tour include?

Your ticket includes a 45 minute guided Oxford walking tour, which runs daily at various times and takes you into the lanes and quads that the bus cannot reach. It is a good way to learn more about the university and its traditions. Note that the walking tour only runs in certain seasons, so check the times when you arrive. Combine the bus and the walk on the same day and you will have a good overview of the city by lunchtime, leaving the afternoon free for a college, a museum or a punt on the river.

What is included with your ticket?

Every pass includes unlimited hop-on hop-off travel on the route for 24 or 48 hours, the guided walking tour, live commentary from an English-speaking guide on the bus (subject to availability), and free Wi-Fi. The audio guide is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Arabic and Hindi, and there is a commentary for children too. Entry to colleges and attractions is not included.

Boarding, accessibility and opening days

Your voucher is emailed to you shortly after booking. Show it on your phone with a valid photo ID at the starting point, and check the voucher for exact instructions. Paper vouchers can be redeemed at the Visitor Information Point or with the drivers. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and small, well-behaved dogs are allowed on board. The bus does not run on 1 January or 25 and 26 December. If you only have one day, ride the full loop first, join the walking tour, and then go back to the colleges you liked most.
