What you see at Jesus Christ Superstar

Told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, the musical follows the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ with a rock band score rather than a traditional book musical layout. Timothy Sheader directs, with choreography by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie and design by Tony and Olivier Award winner Tom Scutt. Sam Ryder continues as Jesus after his West End debut at the Palladium.

Runtime is about 90 minutes with no interval, so the evening is compact: dinner before or after is easier to schedule than a three-hour epic. The sound is loud and physical; the story is serious. If you want another Lloyd Webber night in London, compare The Phantom of the Opera tickets. For a different West End epic opening later, keep an eye on Miss Saigon tickets.

Best seats and how the room feels

Theatre Royal Drury Lane is a large historic house near Covent Garden. Stalls and the front of the Royal Circle usually give the clearest view of the choreography and band energy; higher circles trade price for distance. Choose by the sightline notes on the live seat map when you book rather than a generic "premium" label.
