Best Time to Visit The View from the Shard
Sunset visits are popular for watching daylight fade and the city lights switch on below. Morning visits often offer the clearest visibility. Evening slots showcase London's illuminated skyline. Weather affects visibility, but cloudy days create dramatic atmospheric conditions for photography.
The Shard Building
The Shard was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano and completed in 2012. This 87-storey pyramid-shaped tower stands 309.6 metres tall, making it the tallest building in Western Europe. The glass facade reflects changing light throughout the day. The building houses offices, restaurants including Aqua Shard and Hutong, the Shangri-La Hotel, private apartments and the viewing galleries.
Facilities
The venue includes accessible toilets, baby-changing facilities and a gift shop with exclusive merchandise. Photography is encouraged throughout all viewing areas. Staff are available to help capture photos against the London backdrop.
