King's Cross, London
The Great Northern Hotel is a beautifully restored Victorian gem, originally built in 1854 as one of London's first purpose-built railway hotels. Its distinctive curved facade wraps around the corner of King's Cross station, and a meticulous restoration has preserved original features — barrel-vaulted ceilings, ornate plasterwork and sweeping corridors — while adding contemporary comfort and style.
The GNR cocktail bar is a sophisticated spot for pre-dinner drinks, and Plum + Spilt Milk restaurant serves excellent modern British cuisine. Rooms range from cosy Singles to spacious Suites, all with luxurious bedding and rainfall showers. The location is exceptional for travellers: King's Cross and St Pancras International are literally next door, offering Eurostar services and Tube connections across London. The West End is about fifteen minutes by Tube.

“What a gorgeous hotel. The restoration is superb — you feel the history but with all modern comforts. GNR bar makes excellent cocktails and we took the Piccadilly line straight to the theatre. Perfect.”

“Arrived from Edinburgh on the LNER and the hotel is literally steps from the platform. The room was beautifully designed with original features. Plum + Spilt Milk dinner was a highlight. Love this hotel.”

“Really charming hotel with great character. Our room was on the smaller side but beautifully finished. The location is unbeatable if you're arriving by train. King's Cross area has improved enormously.”
The hotel is well soundproofed. You might hear some ambient noise from the station concourse, but rooms are generally very quiet. Request an upper-floor room if you're concerned.
Ideal. St Pancras International, where the Eurostar departs, is literally next door. You can walk from your room to the Eurostar check-in in under five minutes.
Take the Piccadilly line from King's Cross St Pancras — it's direct to Piccadilly Circus (about 12 minutes) and Leicester Square (13 minutes). Both are in the heart of theatreland.
The King's Cross regeneration has transformed the area. Coal Drops Yard offers excellent shopping and dining, Granary Square has fountains and outdoor seating, and the area feels vibrant and safe day and night.
